| Customer Reviews: Average Rating: Rating : - A wealth of artistry of African-American music and musicians This album is an excellent audio mini-compendium of compositions by African-American female composers: namely Betty Jackson King, Margaret Bonds, Florence Price, and Undine Smith Moore. All of these women, who have been well written and well published were classically trained musicians; three of them lived in Chicago; unfortunately all are dead, but their music and artistry continue to live on. The artists, Ms. Dillard, Ms. Hamilton, Mr. Honeysucker, and Ms. Taylor are consumate artists in their own right as performers not only in European Classical Music, but also in African-American Music. I would highly reccomend this CD for anyone's collection of excellent music. Ronald Baltimore, Jr. Assistant Professor of Music Philander Smith College Little Rock, AR + See Full Customer Review | |
