| Customer Reviews: Average Rating: Rating : - I like it! I did some research for a simple, no nonsense sharpening tool for my kitchen knives. There are a lot of high-end sharpeners out there but I find that sometimes the simple things work almost as well. I'm not a chef or even a hobby cook (although I can cook if asked to). What I wanted was a simple sharpener for the kitchen that worked as well as the sharpeners found in the hunting and fishing catalogs but that was compact, reasonably priced, and worked well.
I ordered the Ozi and after being back ordered for a couple of weeks received it in the mail this afternoon. I took it out of the package, glanced at the instructions for opening and using it and in a couple of minutes was working on my first knife; a 30 year old Chicago Cutlery knife that hasn't been properly sharpened in years. It took a few minutes of work but the blade is now sharp as new. I then went through all the knives in our kitchen drawers that we use regularly. In less than 20 minutes they were all sharp. My wife just finished cooking a processed ham for Christmas dinner tomorrow; the kind with the skin that is pretty tough. I used one of our slicing knives that I knew from past experience would not work on this ham. TaDa! With the knife sharpened in the Ozi is sliced through with no problems. Playing card thin slices were easy. If it dulled at bit, I swiped it through the Ozi a couple of times and it cut through the skin with no problem.
I don't normally write reviews like this but was so impressed with the results that I thought I'd share them. Yes the case is not built like Fort Knox but it works. I find that the vertical side makes a nice guide to land the blade in the fingers every time. This tool does what it claims. I don't know how long the diamond dust will last on the fingers, but if it's anything like the diamond dust hand sharpener I bought to do my daughter's hockey skates, it will last a long time and save me $$'s.
